Qualification for the Trade Adjustment Assistance Program

The Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms (TAAF) Program is a federal program established under the Trade Adjustment Act that provides aid through a cost-sharing program, to companies who have lost business due to import competition. Qualification for funding through the TAA program is a 3-Phase process:

01 Certification

SETAAC assists you in applying for qualification at no cost. We review your company history, prepare your petition, and submit it to the Economic Development Administration (EDA) for approval. The decision typically takes 40 days.

02 Recovery Plan

Once approved, SETAAC will work with you to create a customized strategy designed to help your business grow by implementing critical projects. This formal Adjustment Plan (AP) is then submitted to the EDA for approval. The decision typically takes 60 days and is a shared cost between your company and SETAAC.

03 Implementation

When the AP is approved, SETAAC matches you with private contractors, or you can use your preferred contacts, to help implement the plan, assist with proposal writing and processing, and manage the resources needed to complete your projects.

*Please note that the program does not allow us to pay anything directly to a client, so please adhere to our policies as we cannot reimburse funds to a client that has paid for fees outside of the contract.

Contract Process for the Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms (TAAF) Program

SETAAC will work closely with you through each phase of the process to achieve optimum success.

According to TAAF rules, we are required to use our program (Georgia Tech) contracts*. Clients should never sign contracts with any contractors as they may contradict our contracts. All contractor proposals should be submitted to SETAAC for approval. Visit the Secure Funding webpage for more information on how the cost-sharing program works.
